Candidates

Office of the President

Stephen Guerra (Rochester, Minnesota)

Stephen Guerra

My name is Stephen Guerra. I am a resident of Rochester, Minnesota and a proud father of my daughter Kaylee who has been involved with beep baseball for ten years. I am blessed to have an awesome support network of my daughter Kaylee and partner Dawn.
I have been serving the league as a Board of Director member since 2001 and Secretary of the league since 2006.

I have held roles as part of the Rules Committee, Bylaws Chair and as part of the Web Committee during my tenure.

The NBBA has existed since 1976 and has seen tremendous growth over the last twenty years. A few examples of how and in which way the NBBA has grown and that I have been part of are:
● The implementation of receiving payments electronically since 2011.
● Growth in the membership from having thirteen teams in 2006 take part in the World Series, twenty-four teams in 2015 and twenty-one teams in 2026.
● Membership in 2008 was 269 members and has doubled to over 500 strong.
● Being part of the Tournament Committee, seeing the transition of local teams/cities hosting a World Series to having had the weeklong tournament run by city organizations since 2007.

My Commitment
If elected as President, I hope to implement sound leadership strategies and provide guidance to strengthen our growth in membership and financial infrastructure through corporate donations, identifying measures in which we can take existing expenses and implement cost cutting measures and strengthen our endowments for our immediate and long-term future. My role as Secretary of the NBBA has allowed me to be very familiar with our day-to-day business operations. This enables myself and the organization which I hope to lead, to forecast a brighter future financially and logistically.

Future Goals
Goals are identified as challenges that when properly strategized can be achieved in the long-term with a series of objectives met during the process.
Goals that I feel can be achieved if elected are:
● Identifying ways to engage and strengthen the membership and teams of our league both domestically and internationally.
● Identify with our current vendors of equipment, ways in which products being developed are able to be distributed effectively, quickly and eliminate any backlog of orders previously placed.
● Solidify and introduce the Bylaws, Rules, Articles of Incorporation, NBBA Code of Ethics for the Board of Directors, a Code of Conduct for the membership to be modernized and made readable and understandable for every member of the league.
● Resolving our permanent location for the NBBA Hall of Fame and all those who we honor each year with the NBBA Memorial Plaque.
● Having the Board of Directors seek and establish partnerships with corporations in the sports sphere for the benefit of the NBBA both logistically and financially.
● Developing a strategic plan for growth for the NBBA over the next five or more years.

I have honorably and faithfully served the NBBA community for over twenty-five years.
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of my interactions with each member and team contact that I have had the pleasure of engaging with and speaking to.
I would like to thank those past NBBA Presidents who nominated me for the office of NBBA President.
If elected I will give you 200% of me with my commitment to excellence in the league and growing the sport of beep baseball.
I look forward to your support during the World Series week and your vote.

Faithfully Submitted
Stephen Guerra

Office of the 2nd Vice President

Darren Keepers (La Verne California)

Darren Keepers

My name is Darren Keepers, and I am running for a full term as Second Vice President of the National Beep Baseball Association.

Beep baseball has given me a community, a purpose, and friendships that have had a lasting impact on my life. I am the founder and president of the SoCal Beep Baseball Association and a member of the SGV Panthers. Through that work, I have helped create more opportunities for blind and visually impaired athletes throughout Southern California.

I was first elected to the NBBA Board of Directors in 2022 and was reelected in 2025. Following my reelection, I was appointed as Second Vice President to complete the remainder of the term after the position became vacant.

During my time on the board, my focus has been on improving communication, strengthening the NBBA’s digital presence, preserving the history of the game, and finding practical ways to better serve our members.

One of those improvements was proposing that the NBBA begin using Zeffy to manage electronic payments. Today, the league can collect dues, registrations, sponsorships, donations, and other payments without the NBBA, its teams, or its members losing money to processing fees. Since moving to Zeffy, approximately $2,300 has been saved in fees.

Consistent social media themes have also been developed to recognize players, teams, women in beep baseball, Hall of Fame members, tournaments, and important moments throughout NBBA history. These efforts have helped produce significant growth on Instagram and greater engagement across the league’s social media platforms.

I also plan to begin a volunteer highlight series recognizing volunteers, umpires, officials, and others from around the league whose work makes our games, tournaments, and organization possible.

The NBBA YouTube channel has been fully developed into an organized and growing archive of beep baseball history. Previously unavailable games have been located, organized, and published, along with tournament coverage, interviews, promotional videos, and other league content.

Another major project has been the development of the NBBA Stats Hub. The site brings together player statistics dating back to 1998, with some records going back even further. It also includes World Series history, team records, league leaders, awards, player profiles, live game scoreboards, and a complete online Hall of Fame with statistics and career information.

Work is also continuing on a web-based digital scorecard and tournament statistics system designed to make game scoring, reporting, live updates, and access to player statistics more efficient and accessible.

This includes the development of a tournament master statistics system that can generate complete tournament statistics, league leaders, award winners, team totals, and other reports using tournament-specific parameters. The goal is not only to improve how the NBBA collects and preserves data, but also to support tournament officials by producing results almost instantly instead of requiring hours of manual data entry. This can reduce delays and help prevent errors in scoring, statistics, and tournament awards.

I have also worked on sponsorship and promotional campaigns for the World Series, including livestream and field sponsorship opportunities, while supporting broader efforts to promote the game, recruit volunteers, and connect the NBBA with new audiences.

In addition, I assist the Tournament Committee as an unofficial member. This has included preparing press releases, coordinating with tournament hosts on public relations content, promoting tournament information, and helping ensure important updates are communicated clearly to teams, players, and supporters.

As Second Vice President, I will continue working to strengthen communication, improve financial and operational practices, support our teams and committees, preserve the history of the NBBA, expand our digital presence, and help the organization grow.

I care deeply about this game and believe our decisions should always be centered on what is best for the membership and the future of beep baseball. I would be honored to receive your support for a full term as Second Vice President.

Board of Directors

Brandon Chesser (Austin Tx)

I have been an active member and player with the league for 18 years. I have been an active board member for the past three years and I am asking for your vote to continue on for another three years serving this league as a board member. In the past three years, I have assisted the league in serving on committees, such as the rules, membership engagement, assisted with the KOOL clinic and the outreach committee. Looking forward I wish to continue and helping with player development, volunteer development, as well as recruitment. I am also diving into adventures to assist in elevating our equipment to a level that will guarantee us future games. With your support, voice, and vote, I hope to gain another three-year term as a board member.

Bruce Weathers (Moore, Oklahoma)

Bruce Weathers

Hello,
My name is Bruce Weathers. I was introduced to Beep Baseball during the World
Series that was held in Norman, Ok in 2023. My son, Gabriel Weathers, had the privilege of
sitting with the team New Jersey Titans as part of the Kids O Our League (KOOL) Clinic that
was held earlier that week. As I was watching the game, I had to learn very quickly that you
could not say anything while the game was in play. I sat amazed watching as the players hit
a beeping ball, ran to a buzzing base all while those in the outfield searched for the ball that
was hit. All while blindfolded! I thought to myself, either these people are crazy or some
very special athletes.
My introductions to the sport of Beep Baseball and the NBBA were quickly realized
when my son, Gabriel, was also asked to become part of the local team, Oklahoma
Lookouts. Gabriel loves beepball and the comradery and confidence it has built inside him.
I loved how beepball brought the competitive side out and being around some of the best
groups of people in my 55 years of being on this planet. This is truly an amazing
organization.
As a result, I set out to learn everything I needed to know about this sport and its
featuring organization, the National Beep Baseball Association (NBBA). I used my extensive
skills as a former law enforcement officer to research everything I could about the
organization. I needed to know what my son and our family were becoming a part of and
supporting. I also used my multiple years of experience as an upper management
supervisor and public relations from Lowe’s Home Improvement to help build bridges,
make connections and garner support from others. After seeing that the league needs to be
better today than yesterday, I was asked to co-author the largest bylaw proposal to date. A
proposal, although it did not pass the team contact call, still needs to be redone to help the
league succeed in the 21st century.
As part of that team, I was nominated to become a member of the Board of
Directors. We need to help the league push forward and become a world-wide
organization. This starts with your support as members to vote in people who will give every
ounce of energy into driving the league beyond what it is now. Help me build the vision I
know the league can become. I would like your support and vote

Melchion Wee-Ellis (New York)

Melchion Wee-Ellis

Greetings, Earthlings! I come to you from the planet of the East Coast, where Beep Ball isn’t played as often as in the Midwest or the South, and where our main body of salty water is called the Atlantic Ocean.
What’s good? My name is Melchion Wee-Ellis. I go by other names such as Sling, the guy who manages to dislocate his shoulders every year, the guy who walks slow but runs fast to the base like he stole something, the mailman, the guy who missed three bases in a row in Vegas, and, very recently, Shob. From all those, though, you can just call me Mel’Shawn.
For those who are unaware, those cool highlights that have been posted on the NBBA social media platforms have been all me. I have been clipping highlights since the start of the year and have been a part of the PR team. So, I got the Rob Wiseman cheat sheet printed on the inside of my goal fix.
I am from New York, but this year I am playing with the BSO Philly Fire. I started playing the sport of beep baseball back in 2021 with the Long Island Bombers, now known as the New York Bombers. I was with the Bombers for five years until I made the switch to the Fire as of this year.
As for my boring adult background, I am a usability and accessibility consultant. I torture myself on websites that clearly are not made with the blind in mind, but I still force-feed companies applesauce so they will consume the knowledge that blind people are users of the internet webs.
I grew up legally blind up until 2016, when I started to lose my vision monthly until 2018, when I went totally blind. I went blind from chronic pan-uveitis, which makes me not part of the cool club of the RP squad, which they inform me of every World Series.
I grew up in a weird time of being a nerd while being an athlete at the same time. I was the guy who hung around the cheerleaders, played card games in the library, joined the dance club, was apart of the art club, built a robot in robotics, and competed in track events.
I am mainly running for a position on the board of directors because there is no East Coast representation.
I look forward to seeing you all next week. Peace and be well,
Melchion Wee-Elliss

Richard Schultz (Hickory Hills, IL)

Richard Schultz

For those of you that may not know me, my name is Rich Schultz. I have played Beep Baseball for over 20 years and it is one of my greatest passions in life. It helps fulfill my competitive drive as an athlete. What motivated me to run for the board of directors is with the World Series being in my hometown, I got to witness firsthand things being in a state of disarray and rather than watching that happen, I decided to make the choice to get involved.

While on the Chicago Comets, I have served on the board of directors in various capacities and helped lead numerous workshops for youth in the Chicagoland area. I am also a teacher of the visually impaired and it gives me great pride to help motivate future generations of Beep Baseball athletes so please vote for me to promote a brighter future for the sport of Beep Baseball.
